The winter can bring a lull about your every day life. However, it’s important to make sure you stay active, or you may get into a slump. One way to keep happy is through exercise. Although you may not be able to go running outside like you would when the temperature is more welcoming, you can hit the soft rubber floor tiles of the gym and work out in a nice temperature-controlled room.
According to researchers from Penn State University, people who are more physically active have a higher level of enthusiasm and excitement in their lives. Additionally, these feelings were more prevalent on days where the subjects were more physically active than usual.
“We found that people who are more physically active have more pleasant-activated feelings than people who are less active, and we also found that people have more pleasant-activated feelings on days when they are more physically active than usual,” said Amanda Hyde, one of the study’s researchers.
为了完成这项研究中,研究人员问students from more than 190 universities to keep diaries, which included timed physical activity that lasted more than 15 minutes, sleep quantity and quality and overall mental health. The study’s authors noted that those who did the most physical activity had the most enthusiasm, which could help promote the importance of working out.
Those who are trying to think of a way to beat the winter blues may want to consider boosting their physical activity levels.
